Bets to Place Before the 2025 College Football Season

College football season is approaching. Before the season starts, gamblers need to get their futures bets in for the year. Here are bets to place before the 2025 college football season.

Last Season: 2-2

Clemson Tigers Over 9.5 Wins

Clemson won nine games last season and have an improved roster this season. They return 13 returning starters and have some impactful players coming into the program. Cade Klubnik took a step forward at quarterback last season and has a talented receiving room to work with. The defense has the best line in the country that stars T.J. Parker, Peter Woods and Purdue-transfer Will Heldt. Their back seven also has plenty of talent to work with.

The Tigers have a decently tough schedule, but should be able to handle things in the majority of their games. They’ll have key games vs. LSU, at Georgia Tech, at Louisville and at South Carolina. Clemson should be favored in all but maybe one game in the season. With their returning experience and a new defensive coordinator, Tom Allen, in place, Clemson should be expected to win double digit games and make the CFP.

LSU Tigers Over 8.5 Wins

LSU won eight regular-season games last season and should be expected to do better in 2025. They have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier returns and has a ton of weapons to use, including running back Caden Durham, wide receivers Aaron Anderson, Barion Brown and Nic Anderson to go with some others. They will have to get new faces to play well in the trenches on offense, but their defense has some talent too. Edge rushers Patrick Payton and cornerback Mansoor Delane join star linebackers Whit Weeks and Harold Perkins to bring an added punch to the defense.

The schedule will be tough, as the Tiges have key games at Clemson, vs. Florida, at Ole Miss, vs. South Carolina, at Alabama and at Oklahoma. LSU will be underdogs in some of them, but have good players on both sides of the ball to win a decent chunk out of that list. With pressure on Brian Kelly, the Tigers will expect to go at least 9-3 this season.

Illinois Fighting Illini Over 7.5 Wins

Illinois surprised a lot of people last season by winning nine regular-season games. On offense, nine starters return, which includes starting quarterback Luke Altmyer and the entire offensive line. Defensively, star pass rusher Gabe Jacas returns after notching eight sacks and Xavier Scott will lead the secondary after having six passes defended and four interceptions.

The Fighting Illini will have key games at Indiana, vs. USC, vs. Ohio State and at Washington. Even if they lose all four games, they will still be able to hit the over if they take care of business in their other games. There is the possibility that they win some of those games as well, so 7.5 wins seems like a decently achievable number.

Cincinnati Bearcats Under 6.5 Wins

Cincinnati won five games last regular season, which had them finish under their total of 5.5. Head coach Scott Satterfield is on the hot seat, as he hasn’t made a bowl game in his first two seasons with the Bearcats. Top players quarterback Brendan Sorsby, tight end Joe Royer and defensive lineman Dontay Corleone all return, but just seven starters are back overall. With the offense ranking 89th and the defense ranking 62nd in scoring last season, it is hard to see a huge jump that will happen this season with either unit.

The Bearcats will have tough games vs. Nebraska (in Kansas City, MO), at Kansas, vs. Iowa State, vs. Baylor, at Utah, vs. BYU and at TCU. Those will all be games that are toss ups, but they shouldn’t take any game for granted. Losing the opener to Nebraska could make things dicey if they don’t get things together in conference play.
