Fans still should be pretty happy about the start of the Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) Austin Major 2025 for FaZe Clan. Perhaps that tournament practice at BLAST Rivals Spring and some time in the boot camp were crucial for the team to find new synergy — with s1mple.
Having this Counter-Strike legend on the roster, FaZe defeated two pretty strong opponents. On June 8, they could have last match in Stage 2 of this esports event. But their opponents, Legacy, had their own plans — eventually, it was this team who qualified for Stage 3 pretty quickly.
With this round, one more team advances to BLAST Austin Major 2025 Stage 3, where the best CS2 pros in the world will be battling for the Playoff spots. On the other side of this competition, two teams will be eliminated from the Major — and wow, Falcons are in the risk zone too.

FaZe to fix their traumatic rounds?
After winning a match vs FlyQuest at BLAST Spring Rivals 2025, Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski talked a lot about how the team can’t properly recover from bad rounds. The player called that post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which was a somewhat harsh description of what FaZe players come through — even in their winning matches.
Let’s be cautious with the next assumption, but it kind of feels that FaZe may be over this. The first two matches went well for them.
- FaZe defeated HEROIC, 13:3 on Dust II. It’s a very important emotional win for them. Going 10:1 on the CT side in the first half was just wonderful for the FaZe fam.
- FaZe won 13:5 on Anubis over TYLOO. The Chinese team proved to be a tough challenge at the Austin Major. They eliminated Complexity and FlyQuest in Stage 1.
Legacy is one of a few Brazilian teams at Stage 2 of the Counter-Strike 2 BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025. It isn’t as big and well-known as MIBR, paiN, and FURIA, though. Can this be their breakthrough tournament?
Legacy won no matches at IEM Dallas 2025, but they faced Team Vitality to start that event. Their other loss was to 3DMAX.
The team went through all five rounds in Stage 1 of this CS2 Major to advance further. They eliminated Wildcard in the decisive match, which looked like a favorable matchup for the opponents. Will we be treated to more underdog surprises?
paiN and Virtus.pro: Climb up the CS2 esports ladder
paiN Gaming is another Counter-Strike 2 team that creates emotional rollercoasters for their fans. They may look great in some games, like during the match start vs MOUZ at BLAST Rivals Spring, and then fell to the 0:13 abyss.
So far, paiN achieved two victories at the Austin Major, including a close one over FURIA.
Virtus.pro is generally considered one of the CS2 top teams, but they are not the most stable roster recently. VP were eliminated super early from PGL Astana 2025 by MIBR and from IEM Melbourne 2025 by FlyQuest.
At the BLAST Austing Major 2025, Virtus.pro defeated OG and B8.
Elimination abyss
For two esports teams, the CS2 Austin Major 2025 ends with this round. Some of the teams in risk are not supposed to be here.
Team Falcons? They battled Vitality in recent grand finals, like at BLAST Rivals Spring 2025. But the team surprisingly lost to B8 in the opening match and then to Lynn Vision Gaming in Round 2.
MIBR? The team is not in their previous glory, but MIBR finished PGL Astana 2025 5th. They already lost to Legacy and Nemiga in the early rounds of the Major.
- MIBR 0:0 BetBoom
- OG 0:0 Team Falcons
There will be two more rounds of Stage 2 with advance and elimination matches. Stage 3 starts on June 12, and eight more invited teams join the party, including Vitality with their mind-blowing match and tournament win-streak.
