The Wrapp – Pokémon road trips, popcorn musings, and point-and-clicks

Hey there, welcome to our latest edition of The Wrapp.

This is a chance for you to see what the various members of the Pocket Gamer team are planning to play over this weekend and will, hopefully, give you an idea of some of the weird and wonderful things we get up to when we’re not keeping you up to speed with the latest news and tips. Heck, you might even find a new game to play.

I’m putting this in early because I’ve got a flight to catch. And wouldn’t you know it, I’ve also got Balatro loaded up on my phone! So it’s time to finally shoot for that high score and actually start clearing decks, because I know I’ll have the time while I’m flying.

A few friends are planning to watch Superman this weekend, and even though I’ve already seen it, I’d love to see it again. Not because I’m a huge mega-fan of Big Blue (I do love DC Comics), but because I’ll take any excuse to munch on some popcorn. I’ve always wanted to live on the edge and try the sour cream one, so this might just be the day I step out of my comfort zone and do it. But once I’m at the counter, I’ll probably still end up with my go-to barbecue flavour anyway, because life is short and popcorn is life, even though that makes no sense.

I’ll probably mostly be wrestling with The Sims 4 to try and get it to run smoothly, since the past couple of updates have made checking in on my virtual dollhouses a little trickier than usual. A new patch was pushed out this week, which I’m really hoping makes a difference once I install the update. If so, I’m going to spend a bunch of time diving into the new fairy-themed expansion, Enchanted By Nature. I want to try out natural living already! Digitally, that is.

I am currently in the other London, Canada, in the loving grip of the Digital Extremes team for TennoCon. As such, I won’t be doing much gaming, but when I do, it will be all Warframe.

The big plan this weekend is to return to normality after a midweek race up the country to Manchester to visit the debut of the Pokémon Go Road Trip Battle Bus. It was a really fun experience, essentially a roaming mini Go-Fest (as it was about a quarter of the size, and equivalent to one zone).

Anyway, after that I’m not too sure what I’ll be up to, although I’ve a suspicion that it’ll include Mo.Co after their recent revamp, and I might also be meeting up with some buddies to check out the One Piece TCG.

No big gaming plans for me this weekend, since I am tending to some more wedding-related arrangements. I’ll stick to the usual Cookie Run: Kingdom dailies, and since I’ve installed this new adorable idle sim called Cat Town Valley, I might try to play it more, since it’s easy to pick up on the go.

If you’re also someone with a busy schedule, but you like gaming, I recommend it! It’s quite fun, and putting all those chonky fluffers to work will put a smile on your face.

No discoveries on my end for the moment, but more time to play Broken Sword: Reforged and look into other point-and-click adventures for mobile. It’s a pretty good platform for them, and we need more bad jokes and humorous narratives.

This weekend, I’m going to check out what Merge Maestro has to offer. Now, I will admit, at first, I dismissed it. The emoji-like icons and ordinarily tell-tale usage of ‘merge’ made me think this was a game I’ve played on mobile many times. Not awful by any means, but I’ve had my fill. However, I then found out this isn’t free-to-play, it’s free-to-try. So, I dug a little deeper (Okay, I read Catherine’s article, alright?) and learned that this is actually a puzzle-based roguelike. My money shall arrive shortly, Stingless.
