Italy’s premier sci-fi event, the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival, has unleashed its event poster, and they pulled out all the stops in honour of the 25th anniversary.
The Trieste Science+Fiction Festival is a celebration of science and science fiction, featuring a festival loaded with films, literature, exhibitions, video games, and advanced tech. The 25th anniversary celebration aims to promote productions from around the world, ultimately celebrating global sci-fi culture. The Trieste festival means business for its 25th anniversary, so organizers have recruited renowned Spider-Man comic book artist Sara Pichelli to create the official poster for the event. Embodying science, fiction, and everything in between, the poster does not miss, portraying the artist’s unique style, and it can be seen in its entirety below.

While going over why the artist chose this specific image, Pichelli explains, “I knew I would represent a human figure,” adding, “What emerged was a woman who is frightened, furious, and trapped—yet ready to reclaim herself. Now more than ever, we must validate the effort to remain authentic, true to ourselves, and therefore human,” in a powerful statement on the ingenuity of human creativity. It’s almost as if the featured human in the image is screaming for more humanity in an overgrowing AI-flooded industry. The powerful poster details its synthetic representation as circuitry tethering the human away from the organic flower, which is falling apart in front of the woman’s cries for help.

The Trieste Science+Fiction Festival will unfold across key venues including Politeama Rossetti and Teatro Miela for its 25th anniversary, with the Sci-Fi Dome returning to Piazza della Borsa as the hub for extra attendee events and immersive experiences. Artistic Director, Alan Jones says, “For 25 years, we’ve built a home for genre lovers and visionary creators alike. This year promises the most unexpected, thrilling, and unforgettable edition yet. Blockbusters, quirky indies, mind-expanding docs, cult classics, and high-profile guests—we’ve got it all,” regarding the exciting Trieste Science+Fiction Festival’s 25th anniversary.
