WiBD Munich x SAP & AWS: A Powerful Night of Community and Cloud Sustainability

Picture this: Over 80 women from diverse industries, companies, and career stages gathering after a full day of work or study—not just to network, but to connect deeply, support one another, and learn. Real talk. Real people. That’s the kind of energy that filled the flagship building of SAP Labs Campus Munich during our latest Women in Big Data Munich event, held in close collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and SAP.
This time, our focus was Sustainability in the Cloud & Data—a topic that sits outside many of our day-to-day scopes, but one that proved both timely and eye-opening. We were honored to learn from three incredible speakers:
💚 Georgina Gallizo(SAP), who shared insights as a Data Center Environmental Sustainability Specialist
💚 Nahia Orduña (AWS), who brought her deep knowledge as Head of Solutions Architects for Strategic Accounts
💚 Jacqueline Lyra (SAP), who took us on a fascinating journey into the world of the Green Ledger
A heartfelt thank-you also goes to Rosemary Ismalou, who moderated the evening with thoughtfulness and grace.
In addition to the engaging talks, we had the chance to explore the SAP Experience Center, offering a peek into cutting-edge innovations that tie technology and sustainability together.
As a chapter ambassador, I had the honor of introducing Women in Big Data Munich and connecting with so many inspiring professionals. The best part? Seeing firsthand how community grows when people are welcomed as they are—curious, passionate, and open to learning.
We’re so grateful to everyone who made this event possible: Rosemary Ismalou Teuta S. Verena Laumayer 👩💻 Kendy Rannenberg Nahia Orduña Karolina Stosio Meyyar Palaniappan Dr. Elizaveta Winter Alina Florentina Popa Olga Romanova Dr. Anisa Stefi, and so many more.

Note by Rosemary Ismalou “Big Data meets Big Purpose! And really – what can be a bigger purpose than shaping a sustainable future for all? Sure, Big data might not sound glamorous, but if your company is serious about shrinking its carbon footprint, you need comprehensive, reliable data and you need it fast. A perfect forum to talk about going green in the business world was last night’s Women in Big Data Afterwork which we proudly hosted at the SAP Labs Campus Munich.”
